HSC Results and ATAR 2026: When Are They Released and Where Do You Check?
2026 HSC results are released from 6 am on Wednesday 16 December, and ATARs from 9 am that day, Sydney time. Check HSC results through NESA’s Students Online and your ATAR through UAC. They are separate releases, so your ATAR will not appear with your HSC results in Students Online.
NESA confirms the early-morning HSC release in its 2026 HSC announcement. UAC confirms the ATAR time in its official access guide.
Before results day: check both services
Make a small access checklist while there is time to solve any problems:
Open NESA Students Online and check that you can access your account.
Check the email address and mobile number recorded with NESA.
Locate your eight-digit NSW Year 12 student number and your UAC PIN.
Bookmark the official UAC ATAR access page.
Make sure you can use the email account receiving your university application updates after leaving school.
Your UAC PIN is different from your HSC PIN. UAC says the 2026 PIN email was sent on 8 April. If you cannot find it, follow UAC’s recovery and contact instructions rather than repeatedly trying credentials from the other service.
Keep PINs and passwords private. You can discuss results with a parent, teacher or tutor without giving them your login details.
From 6 am: HSC results
NESA releases HSC results online, by email and via SMS. Its 2026 results guide explains the course results and credentials available through Students Online.
Give yourself time to read the actual course labels and results rather than relying on a hurried screenshot. If something seems unexpected, note exactly what the record says and which course it concerns. That will make a conversation with your school more useful than trying to reconstruct the issue from memory.
You also get to decide how you want to spend the morning. It can help to agree with family beforehand whether you want company when opening results and when you will be ready to talk about university choices.
From 9 am: ATAR
Use your Year 12 student number and UAC PIN through UAC’s official access page. You can download your ATAR Advice Notice. UAC also provides a free digital ATAR credential through CredFolio; follow the official instructions if you choose that option.
If an access problem occurs, first check which service you are using and whether its release time has arrived. Follow the support route on that service’s website. A technical problem opening a page tells you nothing about your academic result.
Once you have both releases, save your documents in a clearly named folder. Keep the official files so you can refer to them accurately when checking course requirements.
Keep the next deadlines nearby
For December Round 2, UAC lists these dates, all in Sydney time:
26 November 2026, 11:59 pm: apply and pay.
10 December 2026, 11:59 pm: upload required documents.
18 December 2026, 11:59 pm: change preferences.
23 December 2026, 7:30 am: first ATAR-based offers.
Check the current admissions timetable and each course’s requirements. Earlier course deadlines and different offer rounds can apply.
Prepare your course research before results day. Then the post-results review can focus on the information that has changed, with time to ask a university a specific question before the preference deadline.
Save your credentials before access expires
NESA makes free credential PDFs available in Students Online until 30 June of the year after you leave school. For students leaving in 2026, that is 30 June 2027. Download and save them before your account expires.
While exams are still underway, the useful task is to organise access and return to your next subject. For support with that revision, explore North Shore Tutors’ private tutoring or contact the team.
Information checked on 15 October 2026.
